The Altun Mountain Nature Reserve

The Altun Mountain Nature Reserve,located in a closed area of the Plateau basin in the territories of Qiemo and Ruoqiang Counties,is 3200-4500 meters high above the sea level,with the area of about 45 thousand square kilometers,the largest in China.The major protected are the natural plateau ecosystem and rare wild animals,The topographical features of the Reserve area are special with high mountain deserts,lakes,limestone Carst,and growing various plateau vegetation.This is a very ideal habitat for plateau wild animals,such as the Tibetan Antelopes,the Tibetan Wild Donkeys,the Wild Yaks, the Wild Camels and the Black-neck Cranes all are the first-class protected species in China.
