The Ruins of Qiuci Capital

The Ruins of Qiuci Capital,also called”The Ancient Pilang City”,are located 2 kilometers west of the Kuqa County.In 648,Tang Dynasty,it was put under the administration of the Anxi Military Viceroy’s Office.It was one of the four important towns and the largest city in the area in the Western Region.

Many famous scholars left their footprints in this city.A monk,whose name is Xuanzang,passed by Qiuci on  the way to India to obtain Buddhist scriptures.The other monk is Kumurahjara,both are known as the greatest translators of the Buddhist sura in China.

  Then is the Qiuci music and dance.More than20 musical instruments were used to play,the instruments are from middle China,India and Persia,and invented in local.From then on ,Qiuci music and dance started to serve at the imperial court,and it was known as the “Yanyue”.
