In the 18th century,another important ancient Buddhist town on the Silk Road was made to convert to Islam.So the sign of Islam appeared in Kuqa.The grand Kuqa mosque was situated to the north of the old city of the Kuqa County,this mosque is the second largest in the area only next to the Adigar Mosqu in Kashgar.
This mosque was built in 15th century,consists of the grand praying hall,the small praying hall,and the ceremony-heralding tower,moon viewing tower,dwelling houses and the difference in this mosque from the other mosques is there is a religious court in the small praying hall.
The mosque looks solemn and respectful,and it is the center of religious activities in Kuqa.
