We have organized more 30 Muztagh Ata climbing expeditions in the last 20 years, we’re confident to offer you again in the coming years. Here the route suggested:
Kunjirep Pass (Pakistan) or Turogart Pass or Irkestam Pass(Kirghizstan) entry to Xinjiang ,China. Drive to Kashgar ,drive to Karakul Lake then trekking with camels to B C of Muztagh Ata. Normally 2 weeks climbing, same way back to Kashgar or exit.
You also can fly to Urumqi – Kashgar from Moscow, Islambad,Astana,Bishkek,Tashkent, Almaty or even Beijing.

The best time for this journey is on June, July and Aug.

Location: 215km away from Kashgar, Muztagh Ata regarded as being part of north western Kunlun Mountain range, but it is geographically more closer connected to the Pamir mountain range, Karakoram highway, which is highest paved international highway in the world to link China with Pakistan through Kunjirap pass, just passes through very close to both Muztagh Ata and Konggur Tagh as well as Karakul lake, it is easily accessible from the Highway to Base Camp of Muztagh Ata.
Muztagh Ata 7,546m(24,757 ft ), which is second highest mountain in Kunlun range, lies just south of Konggur
Tagh(7649m) ,highest in Kunlun range ,and south west of Karakul lake, Together they form somewhat isolated group
with many other 7000m peaks around, and isolated from the main chain of the Kunlun.

Here the suggested itinerary:

Option I:(21 days in Xinjiang China)

Pakistan-Kunjirep Pass+Muztagh ATa+Kashgar+Pakistan

Day 1 guide and bus meet at Tashkurgan -Kunjirep Pass, transfer to hotel in Tashkurgan

Day 2 drive 100 KM to the 204 Camping, the altitude is 3600 meters above sea level.

Day 3 trekking with camels to B C of Mustag Ata,3-5 hours walking, the altitude is 4200 meter above sea level.

Day 4-17 B C . and climbing period ,2 weeks climbing time, we provide 10 days meals in total from Day 3 to Day 17,our service is only at B C, you have to manage your climbing above B C .by yourselves. our meals is mainly Chinese muslin food: bread and tea ,egg for breakfast, rice and noodles with vegetable fruit melons and meat for lunch and dinner.

Day 18 trekking with camels down to Village 204, same road drive back to Kashgar hotel

Day 19 Kashgar, rest and some city sightseeing hotel

Day 20 drive back to Tashkurgan via Karakul lake overnight hotel

Day 21 Tashkurgan-Kunjirep pass exit and drive to Sust.

Option II:(22 days in Xinjiang China)

Urumqi+Kashgar+Muztagh Ata+Kashgar+Urumqi

Day 1 arrive Urumqi airport, guide and bus transfer to a 3 star hotel .25 KM for airport to Urumqi.

Day 2 transfer to Urumqi airport ,fly to Kashgar and transfer to a 3 star hotel, the flight takes 1 hour and 40 minutes.

Day 3 drive 4-5 hours along Karakul lake to Village 204 Camping, 204 KM,and tekking with camels to B C of Mustag Ata,3-5 hours walking, the altitude is 4200 meter above sea level.

Day 4-18 B C and climbing period ,2 weeks climbing time, we provide 10 days meals in total from Day 4 to Day 18,our service is only at B C, you have to manage your climbing above B C by yourselves. our meals is mainly Chinese food: bread and tea ,egg for breakfast, rice and noodles with vegetable fruit melons and meat for lunch and dinner.
