Dear China Adventure
First of all it has to be stated that this trip was simply magnificent: from the crossing of the desert to the visited sights and cultural monuments.
However, I don‘t want to hide the fact that for camel trekking a certain fitness is indispensable, as walking for many hours in the sand is quite demanding, but the effort is rewarded with fantastic impressions!
Wang ("Rick") is a very experienced, friendly, reliable and humorous tour guide - all the best conditions for such an extraordinary trip. And he is an excellent cook, who was able to ensure a delicious supply from the ingredients carried in wooden boxes during the trekking!
Special stations outside the desert crossing were the cities of Khotan with the extensive square of the people and the worth seeing bazaar, Kashgar with its both traditional and highly modern appearance and the interesting Id Kah mosque and the Abak Hodscha mausoleum, Turfan with the Sulaiman mosque as well as the nearby grottos of Bezeklik. Other very interesting places were the Thousand Buddha Cave near Kizil with its interesting murals.
In addition to the desert landscape there were other impressive natural experiences, such as the excursion to Lake Karakol near Muztag Ata (a very cold area due to the altitude!) and the stay at the idyllic Heavenly Lake.
The arrangement of the trip is extremely versatile and entertaining: from the impressive gentle expanse and silence of the desert, which for me was the main reason for the trip, to the other sights. Truly an environment for relaxation and overwhelmed amazement. The desert’s clear nightly starry sky was for me an experience of the special kind...
I was completely satisfied with all conditions of this round trip (camel guides, accommodations, places visited - and of course the tour guide) - truly a travel experience you will never forget in your life. For people interested in nature and culture, who would like to travel far away from the big tourist mass flows, this trip is simply ideal!
